The Business Support Office participated in the discussion of the implementation of the project aimed at digitalization of origin country certificate issued by the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia.
Earlier, the Business Support Office had introduced this initiative to the RA Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The project is implemented by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Armenia with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Hakob Avagyan and RA Chamber of Commerce and Industry Executive Director Andranik Aleksanyan participated in the discussion.
During the meeting, it was noted that the procedures for issuing certificates in Armenia and the experience of electronic certifications of other countries, as well as the views and suggestions of the Armenian business community on the digital system of issuing country certifications and its scope of activities were studied. As a result, the structure of digitalization of Armenia’s origin certificate issuance system was developed and the sequence of documents and information provision, evaluation and issuance of certificates in the system.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry carries out work on the development and implementation of the electronic system of origin certificates.
The discussion participants were given the opportunity to start the Electronic Certification Electronic System. As a result of the implementation of the system it is expected to reduce the timeframe for submitting applications and certificates, reduce the expenses of the economic operators for the acquisition of origin certificates, reduce the risk of corruption, reduce accountability, transparency of work, etc.
The Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Hakob Avagyan mentioned the importance to the creation of such a system, noting that it will facilitate the business and, at the same time, raise the level of transparency. The Deputy Minister assured that the Ministry is ready to assist in the implementation of this initiative.
