New thematic video trainings for entrepreneurs are now available

New thematic video trainings for future Armenian entrepreneurs (also with ENG subtitles) have been introduced by Business Support Office- Armenia  and SME Cooperation Association with a goal to provide useful information to the entities interested in starting business in Armenia and introduce the specifications of entrepreneurial activities as well as taxation mechanisms.

The trainings cover the following topics:

Training 1: Entrepreneurial activities. business registration
Training 2: Simple tax regime: family business
Training 3: Simple tax regime: patent fee payments
Training 4: ...


A raising awareness seminar with journalists on Inspection Reforms took place

14. 11. 2014  The IRCC Secretariat  organized a raising awareness seminar with journalists on Inspection Reforms at World Bank Yerevan office. The goal of the seminar was to introduce the activities performed in frames of inspection reform strategy as well as to highlight the legislative basis for the reform development.

The Head of the Business Support Office- Armenia Gevorg Poghosyan made a presentation on the inspection reform phazes.

The seminar concluded in questions and answers.

IRCC held its regular meeting

Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, the Inspection Reform Coordination Council held its regular meeting in the Office of Government.

Proceeding to the agenda, the meeting discussed and approved the draft law “On inspection bodies” and a concept  on inspection system optimization in the Republic of Armenia.


EBRD BSO experts took part in Inspection Reform second international conference

Sep. 9-11 2014 Inspection Reform: Breaking Down Barriers to Trade and Investment conference took place in London, UK with participation of Armenian delegation including the representatives of EBRD BSO, RA Ministry of Economy  and World Bank Group.

 The current processes in terms of implementation of the inspection reform in Armenia were introduced at the conference, as well as the main achievements and challenges were discussed.

Focus group meetings with businesses on Inspection Reform took place

EBRD Business Support Office, IFC World Bank Group and the Inspection reform unit of the RA Ministry of Economy organized a range of focus group meetings with SMEs. The target of the meetings was to inform the Private Sector about the ongoing processes on Inspection Reform, get the feedback and question on the inspection procedures carried out by the inspectorates, which had already implemented the risk-based inspection system.

Turnover tax review and “Family business” exemption from taxes discussed at SME Development Council

11.06.2014 Eleventh SME Development Council, chaired by the Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan took place.

Turnover tax percentage for trade area businesses will be decreased from 3.5 to 1 % with the condition of submission of documentation by the SMEs, however the inspection procedures by the tax authorities will be  simplified and be held in 1 working day only. The changes are expected to be in force since October 1.
